Algebra I, English I LEAP testers, trade school, Mrs. Hayes, and Mr. Williams' classes report to school on 4/24 by 7:15 am. If you are not sure, check your " class of ..." google classroom. You've got this!
Reminders:
No cellphones or electronic devices, no backpacks, no hoodies. You will need to wear your uniform. You will need to bring your ID and your fully charged laptop/Chromebook.
-Logistics: NO students will be allowed to hang out in Tiger Walk!
-Mrs. Ned and Mrs. Ros will issue temp IDs
Group 1 testers (OHS, VLA, and SLATS)
-Enter the 2nd hall from the Bus ramp. Close all doors at 7:24 am. Breakfast ends at 7:30
-Lunches are based on testing
-Only use bathrooms on 2nd hall
-Report to the gym until a ride comes to get them.
Group 2 Afternoon testers- Will remain in the gym until it is time for them to test.
-Enter the 2nd hall from the Bus ramp. Breakfast ends at 7:30
-Lunches start at 10:23. Report to the testing room.
- Report to the gym until buses arrive
Group 3 trade school-
AM- Report to breakfast and then outside to await the bus.
- Report directly to room 111 until lunch is ready
- Students can get a ride home or report to room 111 for the remainder of the day to work on incomplete work.
-Only use bathrooms on Tiger Walk during breaks
PM- report to breakfast and then to testing or to room 111.
- Lunch is at 10:40. Report to the bus ramp at 11:15.

April 22, 2023, is Earth Day. On this day, we celebrate our planet and raise awareness about the importance of taking care of the environment. Let's reflect on our daily habits and consider making sustainable choices to protect the planet for future generations.

Bus #514 will not run on Monday, April 24th.
Due to a scheduling conflict the Geometry Boot Camp originally scheduled for April 24 has been cancelled.
Seat time will no longer be available. We are tallying the times and preparing the paperwork necessary to redeem each student's time.

The LEAP testing week of April 24-28, students at Opelousas High School will be in asynchronous learning at home working assignments posted in Google Classroom by their teachers while LEAP testing takes place.

An exception to asynchronous learning are Mr. Lorenso Williams, Mrs Hayes and Trade school students will report to school next week.
Students required to take LEAP exams will have their testing schedule posted in their Class of 2024, 2025, 2026 Google Classroom. It is imperative to your child's school promotion to make sure they are present for testing on the day they are assigned by 7:20 am to check in. LEAP exams count for 15% of your child's grade for the year in the tested subject.

Parents of 9th - 11th grade are encouraged to attend the presentation on student promotion to better understand the pupil progression for high school.


The TABE Test will be administered to students who are eligible for, and interested in, our HiSET Program on Thursday, May 11th at 9am @ SLATS.
Campuses will email me the names of any students who meet the eligibility criteria listed below by Friday, May 5th. If you feel your child should be tested or to check their eligibility please contact your child's school administration or Ms. Heidi Charles at SLATS.
After testing, schools receive a list of students who should attend an interview for the program. Interview dates and times will be included in that email.
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM:
Students will spend 1/2 of the day in academic classrooms focusing on HiSET preparation, and the other 1/2 of the day in one of our 6 skills classes.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
· Student must take the TABE Test on our campus.
· Student must be at least 16 years of age by March 1, 2024
· Student does not have an opportunity to receive at least 5 Carnegie units by age 17, 10 Carnegie units by age 18, or 15 Carnegie units by age 19 (grade level not required)

LEAP testing for Seniors starts on 4/18. If a Senior is required to take an exam they were sent an email through their school email, please check with your Senior or graduating Junior to see if they have received an email to test.

Autism Awareness Month is observed in April. During this month, we reflect on the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families. This month serves as a reminder of the need for increased understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism and their families.

Attention TIGER FAMILY!! Due to a change in the parish Track meet, we have decided to reschedule our TIGER NIGHT. Once a new date is solidified, we will ensure to get the word out. In the meantime, We ask that everyone joins us in wishing our boys and girls track team GOOD LUCK as they prepare for VICTORY!!!!

1. Jackets must be blue, black, white, gray
2. Shorts have to be finger tip length.
3. Shirts must cover natural waist.
4. Shoes- no Crocs or slippers.
All violators will be written up.
